June 2009 was an exciting watershed for 9Lies. It was the month when almost all we have worked towards as a band and fans collectively came to fruition with the announcement of our first BIG budget UK and Ireland release. WooHOO! (you heard it here first!) Since the release in 2006 to critical acclaim of the 'Behind It All' album, its been a non stop rollercoaster ride, with the title track 'Behind it All' finding home as the theme tune to 'Our Prisoner' in the USA. In 07 the Song 'Slippin Away' was downloaded more than 43,000 times and chosen by ASCAP for excellence in song writing at Music Expo 07 in L.A. And the last two years have been our biggest and best to date, seeing us travel to Poland to play the Vena Music Festival in Lódz to thousands of screaming fans alongside the Sugababes and Fun Lov'in Criminals. Being invited to play FMI 08 in Brazil, licensing 'We R1' to Techno Sweat for use on their exercise CD's, 18000 people joined us on our 2 International Myspace sites, we gathered over 900 groupies since joining Bebo, with fans placing our songs in over 1500 of their play lists! the release of the first video game ever to use our music 'Trucker 2' is imminent! Oh Yeah! And to top it all off, we have just returned from a mini tour of Germany, which went down a storm, so much so, that there will now be a larger tour later in the year, followed by a tour of the USA, and this is down to you the fans! What a fantastic year it's been for 9Lies! It was the year which saw the 'Behind It All' album being released to critical acclaim, with massive radio airplay around the globe, and all without a record company being involved! It was also the year which saw the song 'Blind' being snapped up by Warner Brothers, and 'Behind it All' the title track from the album finding a new home as theme tune to reality tv show 'Our Prisoner' in the USA. We've been beamed up and down from satellites around the world more times than we care to remember. In the last 6 months alone 9 Lies have traveled to Poland to play the Vena Music Festival to thousands of screaming fans, licensed a song (we R1) to Techno Sweat for use on their exercise Music CD's, 18000 people joined us on our 2 International myspace sites and in the last 3 months we've gathered over 900 groupies since joining the Bebo social networking site, with fans placing our songs on over 1500 of their playlists! The Song 'Slippin Away' has not only been downloaded online during the last year more than 29,000 times, but has more recently been chosen by ASCAP for excellence in songwriting at the ASCAP Music Expo 07 in L.A. Download sales on digital sites such as iTunes and Rhapsody have remained strong, as have Material Worldwide CD sales from our Online Music Store, and all of this is down to you! Thankyou!! The pre-album release mini tour, that has seen us travel the length and breadth of Northern Ireland has now ended : ( But oddly enough its not all doom and gloom, because the Behind It All album is now available digitaly across the globe from iTunes and may other digital outlets this also coincides with availability in 2,500 record stores in the USA! Our debut albums has already had 5 different tracks played on at least six Major Northern Irish radio stations and a vast arrey of International terrestrial and satellite stations! These include the tracks known as 'Slippin Away', which got a welcomed spin on 'Cool Fm 97.4' before the water shed despite the lyrics 'Ahh Let me cum all over you' still being included, DOH! We also had the title track from the album, 'Behind It All' on Downtown Radio, thanks to DJ Johnny Hero who came to see us play LIVE in Newry, he then went on to describe the song as none less than 'Brilliant!' it was also played across the USA on the Indie Limelight radio show followed by 'the Gap' on Sky, and leaving those three up tempo demons on the back burner for a moment, Radio Ulster Broadcast the Ballady 'Too Late' describing us as 'A crusade as much as a rock band' for our stand against POP PAP! But I call that just pure sanity! and last but not least 'Blind' has had several spins now on U105 fm. Meanwhile back at 9Lies HQ, everyone's getting fired up about some new songs that are not even on this album, and on my part that focus is on a great track called 'We are One' your in for a treat! for Stoogie (Stephen McAuley) and Chris, its got to be 'Heaven is here' and I think Dave and Nick are right behind the aptly named 'Truth will Out' Do you feel album 2 coming on??? or a Film sound track??? stay tuned!! We have been in the studio since september with these and more new songs with top Irish music producer Gary Aitken So all will be revealed soon. It doesn't get much better than this Ted! We've decided to try and make an effort to pop in here whenever we can to have a chat with you lot. But as you'd except, with the rock'n'roll lifestyle, this might not always be possible.
