BT has brought together the unlikely combination of former Dr Who, Tom Baker, with 1960s pop icons, the Kinks, for a new download-only version of the band’s number 1 hit “You Really Got Me".

Tom Baker Says...You Really Got Me!
This new take on an old classic is all in the name of charity as BT raises money for a campaign dubbed “Text Aid”, to support homeless charity Shelter in its 40th anniversary year. Text Aid is aiming to raise at least £100,000 for the charity over the festive period. To celebrate Tom’s starring role on the single and to give the campaign extra oomph, BT is bringing back Baker as the voice of its text-to-landline service which proved hugely popular earlier in the year. Customers who send a text message to a fixed line or home phone will have it read out by Tom’s voice. BT will donate 2p to Shelter from every text message sent to a landline from now until January 8, 2007 and all of its proceeds from the download track.
Tom Baker’s voice is live on BT Text from 1 December and the Text Aid track is available now for pre-ordering from 7Digital and will be officially on sale from December 18 from a range of online retailers including eMusic and iTunes.
