RedBoxBlue

Description

RedBoxBlue are a London-based rock band, who are just trying to bring back real music. We're talking guitar driven rock/pop with catchy choruses, nice harmonies and some nice keys in the mix too.

Well, this week has been a pretty crazy week for RedBoxBlue! A few weeks ago, we decided it'd be cool to set up 'Five Nights On Facebook' whereby we would become the first band ever to stream an online gig through Facebook. So, we got a small viral campaign going with our spoof Mastercard video which was pretty popular, we got a little article in the London Paper, however, I don't think any of us really expected none other than Radio 1 to turn up on Wednesday and do a story on the whole thing! Our first Facebook gig on Wednesday night was great, we had a decent number of people tune in, we played pretty well, and there were no technical hitches, what more can you ask for! So, on Thursday we get featured on Radio 1 newsbeat, linked on the BBC news page, and we're feeling really good about things. However, we can't rest on our laurels...we've got 3 more online gigs to play! Cheers for all the support we've been getting once again, we really appreciate it. Sam H

It's been a while since we blogged you all up, so I thought I'd let you know what's been happening in the world of RedBoxBlue. We had our gig at the Hard Rock Cafe on the 17th...really good turn out, our set went down really well, and everyone who was there got a sneak preview of the video for 'I Try'. We should have it up on our website and youtube within the week I reckon. Sam, Adam and Kathy who shot the video for us have done a great job it has to be said....if you're reading, give yourselves a hearty pat on the back. Also, a couple more websites have reviewed the single, including this recent one from Culture Deluxe - http://www.culturedeluxe.com/news_item.asp?id=4037. Anyway, we've decided to push the release date back to 8th June. We've got an interesting plan to promote the single, and it's gonna take a bit longer than 2 weeks to put into action, so that's why. Consider yourselves blogged.

Various people in the band have been on at me for the last few weeks to write a blog. I don’t want to, but apparently these things need to be done. What’s been happening? Loads of things, song is now available to buy, but you probably already know that by now. We’re getting radio play with some awesome stations and finally people in the band aren’t complaining about being filmed! Things are pretty exciting with what has been happening with the radio stations and also the charts here at indiestore (we're number 7 as I write this). As time goes on, it seems more likely that we can actually do this. Please keep all the support and comments coming – we love 'em! There’s lots of things bubbling away in the background, and as soon as they are confirmed we’ll post em up here! In the mean time, stay cool. Jonathan

So, it’s been a weird couple of months for the band, weird in a good but slightly odd way: We got ‘I Try’ mixed at the Town House studios by a dude called Tom Belton, top bloke. I got to play the same grand piano that Elton John hand-selected to record a couple of his albums on. Then, we played a gig in Stockwell with a drum kit that consisted of a mid-tom and a snare drum. We also filmed our first ever video diary, which is mildly amusing – and worth checking out (on youtube). So yeah, that’s what’s been happening lately in a nut-shell. I also have some advice to impart to fellow keyboard players out there – don’t try and sneak in the tube door just as they’re announcing ‘stand clear of the doors’, cos the keyboard will get stuck in the tube doors. It’s just not worth it - everyone will get annoyed with you, no-one will attempt to help you free your keyboard from the grasp of the doors, and you’ll get loads of black shit on your hands from prising the doors open. Just wait for the next tube, even if it will make you late for your sound-check and piss Jonathan off cos he got there on time. Sam H
