X-VIRUS THE STORY SO FAR!
Andy started of his career as an MC back in 2000 under the name Swift-E playing at nights from Bristol to Reading but in 2004 started to slow down by 2006 he had retired from the Mc-in game as he was no longer feeling the music. He had become bored with doing the same thing time & time again. He felt sad to say goodbye to the his friends that he had made in his rave circles but needed to spend more time with his family and focus on being a good dad to his son Oliver.
Sadly his world was turned up side down when he and his girlfriend of 4 years separated and she moved to Spain with his Son to start a new life. Andy crashed into depression and moved in as a flat mate to Mc Horizon and would spend most of his time listening to Old-skool happy hardcore tapes and Bouncy techno music.
It was during this time Andy was researching the Scottish hardcore scene and watching videos of Live P.A rave bands like Ultra-Sonic, QFX, Ultimate BuzzQ-TEX. An idea was formed in his head that England could do with having some Live PA dance acts in its hardcore scene. But were to start?
After hearing and seeing some modern day Hardcore PA`s such as Heaven 7 & clsm, The idea became a plan, Andy came back to mcing under a new name Virus and so he started playing at some small nights wanting to build up his profile from scratch. But the idea of a PA was becoming a desire he could not ignore.
Preferring a more minimal approach to being an MC Andy paid close attention to certain mcs like Shocker & Si-the-sigh.
In the end his idea to make a hardcore cut called Angel of darkness was put into plan after contacting some of his old friends from the event Dark Energy Dj H20 & Sergeant Dan they joined up with Raverbaby legend DJ UFO and made the cut.
Andy then took a copy of the tune to work and played it to his Boss Antony who was impressed and offered to re-sing the lyrics Andy agreed and rebooked the studio.
While sitting at his desk one of the girls of shop floor came rave dancing through the front corridor with Darren Styles “save me” blasting out of her mobile phone.
Being a cheeky sod Andy was quick to ask her if she liked hardcore which she did.
After several weeks of chatting to each other about random stuff he found out her name and gave her a copy of Angel of Darkness.
The report back from Tarah was most impressive so Andy offered for her to tag along to the studio to help re-record the track and add new lyrics. Through talking Andy was listening to her voice and was beginning to think she may have a hidden talent at singing which he was right she could sing and was bloody good at it.
At the studio Antony and Tarah both sang the new lyrics and their voices went in harmony with each other Andy knew he had found his vocalists to front X-virus as a PA.
Leigh outrage at this time had set up a new record label called re-addicted records and offered X-Virus a contract and new remix Andy signed X-virus to Leigh’s new label.
The new remix was played in London and blew the roof of the main arena at happy nation the remix also made it on the Crush on hardcore 3 album.
Angel of darkness was getting rave review so Leigh set forth the motion to release AOD on 12” vinyl just in time for summer. X-virus went back in the studio with Leigh and made the Techno stomped War in Heaven featuring a Rap by Andy under his Mc Virus guise and Antony singing the chorus line this was then released as an mp3 on re-addicted digital.
Andy’s dream of a live PA was becoming a reality a test PA was then held at a small hardcore night in there home town of Portsmouth which went down a storm.
One day while sitting on his couch watching television and chatting away to Tarah on the phone andy became aware of Scouse House music, watching music videos of Scouse house dance acts like Ultra-beat, Blackout crew, Hypersonic.
Andy started to research this scene and found out the hardcore promoters Vibealite had launched a new night called Bounce heaven covering this music, This scene was similar to hardcore/hard house and had Mc`s Andy started to mc to this music along with hardcore, and started to make Scouse House versions of X-virus tracks under the name United Deejays.
X-virus then went back into the studio along with Tarah`s brother and all of them wrote and produced the track Fallen Apart. Copies of this track were handed out to people and the feed back was good the track was typical Uk Hardcore with vocals from Antony & Tarah.
Sadly Tarah was not always around to do the live pa`s and so Tarah only features with X-virus on special occasions her life took a new twist and she became a massive lover of house music and moved into that direction.
X-virus consists of
Antony Wiggins & Tarah Paker –Vocals ----Stage names *Taz* & Ant *(on some occassions)*
Andy Duggan- Mc ----------- Stage Name Mc Virus
Jeremy Stamp--------- Stage name Dj H20
Dan Traynor------------- Stage name Dj Sargent Dan
